Information Nano Robots

Recently a group of scientists have found a way to address issues related to root canal treatment (dental procedures) using a nano-sized robot. Root canal treatment is designed to remove bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent tooth re-infection, and protect natural teeth.

In Terms Of Research

Treatment of the root canal leaves a portion of the tooth, leaving behind some bacteria that are located deep inside the tooth ducts. In research, the scientist has found a way to deal with it using a nano-sized robot that will treat through tubes and target bacteria. Under this method, spiral-shaped silica nano-boats, containing a little iron, are ejected into the middle canal of the tooth and then a rotating magnetic field is installed. It is a tool to replace the nano robot. Once in the bacterial colony, the nano robot can configure various antibacterial repellents, one of which is local heating.

Nano Robots

Nano robotics describes the technique of building machines or robots on a scale. Nanobot is an informal term used to refer to engineered nano machines. Nanobots are robots that perform very specific functions and are -50-100 NM wide. They can be used very effectively for drug distribution. Medications usually work throughout the body before the disease reaches the affected area. Using nanotechnology the drug can be targeted at an accurate location which will make the drug more effective and reduce the possibility of potential side effects.

Use Of Nanotechnology In Healthcare

  • Nanotech detector for heart attack
  • Nanocarriers for eye surgery, chemotherapy, etc.
  • Diabetes packs to control blood sugar levels
  • Nanospoons are polymer nanoparticles covered by red blood cell membranes and can be used to absorb toxins and remove them from the bloodstream.
  • Nanoflares are used to detect cancer cells in the bloodstream
  • Nanopores are used to make DNA sequencing more efficient

Government Initiative To Promote Nanotechnology

Nanoscience and Technology Mission (NSTM)

NSTM is an umbrella program launched in 2006 to promote research and development in nanotechnology. Its objectives include promoting research, developing infrastructure to support research, developing nanotechnology, human resources and international cooperation.

Nanoscience And Technology Initiative (NSTI)

It was founded in 2001 by the Department of Science and Technology. It aims to focus on issues related to the development of nanomaterial infrastructure, including drugs, drug distribution, gene targeting and DNA chips, research and application programs.
